What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a minimally invasive procedure where a solution is applied to the skin for exfoliation and various skin concerns. The solutions are usually acids, the chemical peel used in our clinic is BioRePeel which contains 35% TCA acid (Trichloracetic acid). TCA acids work by removing dead skin cells and stimulate collagen production, leaving the skin smoother, fresher and with a radiant glow.

What area's can be treated?

​

The most common area to be treated is the face but they can also be used on the neck, decollate and hands.

Are chemical peels painful?

​

Chemical peels are usually pain free, you may experience a mild stinging sensation when they are applied. During the procedure your skin and any reactions will be closely monitored and if you do experience any pain or discomfort it will be removed immediately.

How many treatments will I need?

The amount of treatments you will need depends on the concern that is being treated, this will be discussed at your consultation.

How will my skin look after the procedure?

​

Immediately after the treatment your skin maybe red and blotchy but this usually subsides within a few hours. The following days you may experience some mild flaking and tightness, it is vitally important to be strict with SPF and keep your skin hydrated. Your aftercare will be discussed at length at your appointment and an aftercare leaflet will be given for your future reference.
